Australian borders opened to highly skilled workers

After almost two years of restricted international travel, countries worldwide are grappling with shortages in skilled workers, racing to secure the necessary talent. Australia is no different with in-demand skills being spread across IT, project management, operations, education, and of course, health professionals. To keep up, the Australian government announced a number of welcome changes that will make it easier for businesses to secure overseas talent for their businesses.

Last week came a much-anticipated change to Australian migration, which has been heavily impacted by Covid-19. Labour Hire Licensing in Australia: where are we now?

Labour hire licensing is slowly being introduced across Australia, to ensure the safe and legal engagement of workers. The latest state to implement the Licensing Act was Victoria in October 2019, with South Australia enacting major changes to their Act in July 2020.
